Have you ever wondered exactly why you can’t sleep properly? I expect you have thought something like, why can’t I sleep or stay asleep at night? Would you like to learn how to sleep like a baby? Do you think of yourself as an insomniac?
For me the inability to sleep became a problem when I was also creating anxiety for myself. Those constant whirring thoughts, most of them pretty negative and unhelpful would make me restless, the more I tossed and turned the less I slept and the more I worried about getting to sleep! The less I slept the worse I felt the next day, lacking in energy, motivation, and everything seemed so hard to do. Sleeplessness can become a chronic habit if you don’t ever find the solution which suits you.
Your sleep and the quality of your sleep is so very important to your general health and wellbeing. If you get too much deep sleep your mind won’t have the opportunity to resolve some problems and if you get too much REM sleep (rapid eye movement) this is your dream state then your body doesn’t have as much ability to recharge itself. There are several different stages of sleep but as a rule of thumb your REM and your deep sleep states should be roughly 50/50.
These days my sleep is consistently good and that is because I had the opportunity to learn some new skills which helped me to strengthen my psychological foundations, to train my thinking mind to assist me instead of hindering me and completely boot out my very unhelpful belief systems about all sorts of things which helped me to improve my sleep pattern.
