Do you suffer from cantitis?
Question for you :- ‘Can you sing?’
What was your answer?
The right answer is yes, everyone can sing and some don’t necessarily get the right notes but they are in the right order (Nod to Eric but I’ve twisted it!)
If you said no then you may suffer from cantitis!
Many people come to me because they are having some sort of problem either achieving their goals, moving forward in their lives, building relationships or are suffering from anxiety, stress and panic. Over the years I have become something of a specialist in curing cantitis.
When we sit down initially the conversation usually contains some of the following statements which go something like this. ‘I can’t sleep at night, I can’t learn to drive, I can’t learn, I can’t exercise, I can’t speak in groups or in public, I can’t get over my fear, I can’t sort out my anxiety, I can’t get a better job, I can’t stick to relationships, I can’t get myself out of this depression.
There are a couple of ways you can check if you have this disease, take a look at this list.
- Does there seem to be something holding you back?
- Do you avoid trying new things?
- Are there times when you just give up?
- Are you suffering from anxiety?
- Do you have fear or a phobia?
- Are other people always seeming to do better than you?
- Is job or career the ideal choice for you?
- Could it be someone else who holds you back?
- Do you feel stuck in a rut?
- Is your motivation tip-top?
If you answered yes to more than a couple of those questions then you definitely have cantitis. Most of you may already be twigging what I am getting at here. Let’s change the punctuation slightly.
Is that a bit clearer now? To cure cantitis on paper you just rub off the last few letters so it becomes . . . . . . . . .
In reality, to cure cantitis you have to change your belief systems around a few things. A belief system is made up of thoughts which you just keep on thinking until that thought takes root.
If that belief system is a limiting one made up of lots of can’t thoughts then you will soon find yourself unable to do some things. What happens then is that you stop looking for evidence to counter those beliefs so they become stronger and more impenetrable therefore difficult to change if you haven’t yet had the opportunity to learn how to.
If you think you can’t then you can’t that takes you to a dead end. If you think you can then you will put effort in to making it happen, whatever the it is!
There are lots of remedies out there for cantitis but by far the best in my view would be the Thrive Programme, this is tailor made for cantitis and will help you to unpick those unhelpful beliefs and turn them into extremely helpful ones in only 8 weeks. Along the way you will also learn how to become resilient, mindful, raise your level of self-esteem, feel in control, banish anxiety and value yourself. More importantly you will be able to deal with anything that life throws at you in a much better way.
Health, happiness and success can be yours once you get rid of cantitis!
